Congratulations on your new leopard gecko!
Our goal is to make sure every Gecko Freak animal has a healthy, comfortable, and successful transition into its new home.
Adult: 36" × 18" × 18" enclosure
Juvenile: 20-gallon long or appropriately sized enclosure
Larger is always acceptable when the enclosure is properly equipped and maintained.
Your enclosure should include:
Leopard geckos need a temperature gradient so they can move between warm and cool areas.

Always measure temperatures with digital thermometers and/or an infrared temperature gun.
Never rely solely on the temperature setting on a thermostat.
Use a thermostat-controlled heat source.
Never allow a heat source to operate without appropriate temperature control.
Leopard geckos generally do well with moderate ambient humidity.
Target ambient humidity: approximately 30–40%
Provide a humid hide at all times.
The humid hide helps with:
Keep the humid hide slightly moist—not soaking wet.
Leopard geckos are insectivores and should be fed appropriately sized live insects.
Good feeder options include:
Choose insects that are appropriately sized for your gecko rather than excessively large feeders.
Growing geckos generally require more frequent feeding than adults.
Offer appropriately sized insects regularly and monitor body condition and growth.
Healthy adult leopard geckos typically do well with meals spaced several days apart rather than daily feeding.
Individual appetite and body condition should determine the exact feeding schedule.
Proper supplementation is important for maintaining healthy bones and preventing nutritional deficiencies.
Use:
Calcium + appropriate vitamin/mineral supplementation
A small amount of plain calcium may also be provided in the enclosure depending on your husbandry routine.
Follow the directions for the specific supplement you use.
Do not excessively supplement.
Feeders should be properly cared for before being offered to your gecko.
Healthy feeders = better nutrition for your gecko.
Spot clean the enclosure regularly by removing:
Clean and replace water regularly.
Perform a deeper enclosure cleaning as needed based on your enclosure type and substrate.
Always wash your hands after handling your gecko or cleaning its enclosure.
Leopard geckos shed their skin as they grow.
Before shedding, you may notice:
Do not pull or peel stuck shed from your gecko.
Make sure the humid hide is available and appropriately moist.
If shed remains stuck around the toes, eyes, or other areas, seek advice from an experienced reptile veterinarian.
Give your new gecko time to adjust after bringing it home.
Begin handling slowly and calmly.

Leopard geckos can drop their tails when extremely stressed or threatened.
Never grab or restrain a leopard gecko by its tail.
Regularly monitor:
A healthy gecko should maintain a good body condition and have a reasonably thick tail.
When in doubt, contact a qualified reptile veterinarian.
If you already own other reptiles, we strongly recommend quarantining your new gecko before introducing it into the same collection.
Do not share equipment, substrate, décor, or cleaning supplies between new and established animals without proper cleaning and disinfection.
Moving to a new home can be stressful.
Your gecko may:
Give your new gecko time to settle in.
Avoid excessive handling during the first several days.
Focus on proper temperatures, hydration, hides, and a quiet environment.
